Station Railing Project
Station handrail and platform railing across all 46 Hyderabad Metro Rail stations, delivered for L&T Construction from 2013 to 2021 across seven work packages — Stations’ Hand Rail Stage 1 through Stage 6, plus Uppal and Miyapur depots.
Sun Railings supplied stainless steel and glass railing systems — stainless steel railings and glass railings for the Hyderabad Metro Rail network — one of India’s largest urban transit infrastructure programmes. The scope covered station platform railing and handrail systems across all 46 stations from 2013 to 2021, delivered in coordination with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Metro Rail construction programmes including Stations Stage-1 through Stage-6 and the Uppal Depot.
Sector Requirements & Programme Background
Hyderabad Metro Rail operates high-traffic elevated and at-grade stations where platform edge safety, passenger circulation and visual openness are simultaneous programme requirements. Transit contractors and PMC teams specify railing systems that withstand daily metro usage, resist corrosion in open-air station environments, and integrate glass panels for station visibility without compromising barrier integrity.
Sun Railings has been engaged on L&T Metro Rail station handrail programmes continuously since October 2013, when the relationship began with handrailing works at Miyapur Depot. Work is recorded under L&T job codes LE120359 (Uppal Depot), LE120560 (Stage 1), LE120565 (Stage 2), LE130125 (Stage 3), LE130126 (Stage 4), LE130127 (Stage 5) and LE130128 (Stage 6), engaged as both Composite/Specialized Sub-Contractor and Labour Subcontractor. Factory fabrication at Jeedimetla Industrial Estate supported phased release aligned to station commissioning milestones.
Drawing-based scope from consultant-approved specifications and contractor BOQ packages. The following zones and system types are documented in the Sun Railings Hyderabad Metro Rail project record.

Railing systems were fabricated from high-quality stainless steel structural members with glass panel infill as documented in the Hyderabad Metro Rail portfolio. SS members are specified for corrosion resistance under daily metro usage. Glass panels provide station area visibility while maintaining platform edge barriers along high-traffic and elevated platform zones.
Compliance documentation aligned to IS 875 Part 2 structural requirements, IS 2553 glass certification where glass infill is specified, and NBC 2016 balustrade height confirmation. Mill test certificates and material test documentation are supplied for PMC and contractor handover on infrastructure programmes.
Sun Railings operates as a manufacturer-direct manufacturer at Jeedimetla Industrial Estate, Hyderabad since 2001. All structural members are fabricated in-house with coordinated site installation aligned to contractor and PMC programme milestones.
The Hyderabad Metro Rail programme established glass and stainless steel railing — glass railings and stainless steel railings across all 46 stations — setting a documented reference for urban transit safety and station design in Sun Railings infrastructure portfolio. Delivery spanned L&T-coordinated station stages and Uppal Depot, demonstrating capacity for large-scale, multi-stage transit infrastructure programmes from a single fabrication base.
For EPC contractors, metro developers and transit PMC teams evaluating platform railing suppliers, this programme provides named evidence of Hyderabad Metro Rail delivery at full network station scale.
