Frameless vs Framed Glass Railing

Frameless glass railing maximises transparency — no vertical balustrades interrupt the sightline. Load is carried through the glass panel and base or point fixing. It suits atriums, podiums and feature areas where architecture calls for a clear glass guard.

Framed glass railing uses SS304 or SS316 balustrades with glass infill. Balustrades share the load and simplify future panel replacement — better suited to high-traffic circulation and areas needing easy maintenance access.

For most atrium and podium applications, frameless channel or spigot systems are specified for visual clarity. Framed systems are used where the structural load path calls for balustrade support. Sun Railings supplies both.
