SS304 and SS316 — Choosing the Right Grade
Material selection is the most important specification decision in any stainless steel railing project
SS304 is the standard grade for interior applications and outdoor environments without coastal or chemical exposure. It offers excellent corrosion resistance, structural strength and long-term performance in most commercial building environments across India.
SS316 is specified when the environment contains chlorides — coastal locations within 10km of the sea, facilities with chemical exposure, high-humidity industrial plants, airports and hospitals. The 2–3% molybdenum in SS316 significantly slows the chloride corrosion that degrades SS304 in these conditions.
SS304 — Interior and Standard Outdoor
Correct for commercial offices, IT campuses, shopping malls, metro stations, hospitals and institutional buildings in non-coastal locations. Available in brushed satin, mirror polish and matte finishes. Most widely specified grade across Hyderabad commercial projects.
SS316 — Coastal and High-Humidity
Mandatory for buildings within 10km of the coast. Specified for airports, pharmaceutical facilities, coastal hotels and any project in Visakhapatnam, Mumbai, Chennai or similar coastal cities. Also recommended for Hyderabad hospital and laboratory environments.

What SS grade is correct for a coastal building like Visakhapatnam or Mumbai?
SS316 is mandatory for buildings within 10km of the coast. Salt air causes chloride corrosion on SS304 within a few years. SS316 contains 2–3% molybdenum which significantly slows this process — it is the standard for coastal buildings.
Do your SS railings comply with IS 875 load requirements?
Yes. All our stainless steel railing systems meet IS 875 Part 1 and Part 2 horizontal load requirements — 0.75 kN/m for residential and 1.5 kN/m for commercial and public buildings. Shop drawings include load calculations and anchor specifications.
Can you supply material test certificates?
Yes. Mill test certificates for the steel used in each order are available on request. We maintain material traceability records for all institutional and government projects.
What is the fabrication and delivery timeline for Hyderabad projects?
Standard systems are fabricated and delivered in 3–4 weeks from approved shop drawings. Our Jeedimetla factory allows same-week site visits for project coordination.
