Channel System Glass Railing — U-Channel Base Track | Sun Railings

Sun Railings — Factory Direct

Channel System Glass Railing — Continuous U-Channel Base Track — Zero Visible Fixings

When clients ask us what the difference is between a channel system and a spigot system, we tell them — it comes down to what you want to see at the bottom of the glass. Spigot point fixtures in stainless steel are minimal and modern. Slim aluminium channels — anodised or powder-coated, or in a PVD finish — give you literally zero visible fixing. The glass appears to float out of the floor. It is the cleanest glass railing system we make, and the one most architects specify for premium hotel lobbies and penthouse balconies.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between channel system and spigot system glass railing?
Channel system uses a continuous U-channel that supports the glass along its full bottom edge — zero visible point fixings and the cleanest appearance. Spigot system uses individual point fixings at the base of each glass panel — slightly more economical and easier to replace individual panels. Both use 12mm toughened glass and are IS 2553 compliant. Channel system is preferred for premium projects; spigot for standard residential.

How is the channel fixed to the slab in a channel system glass railing?
The SS U-channel is fixed to the slab using stainless steel chemical anchors or expansion bolts at 400 to 600mm centres. The channel is bedded in structural silicone and levelled precisely before anchor setting. Glass panels are then installed with EPDM setting blocks and structural silicone sealant. Sun Railings engineers specify the correct anchor based on slab thickness and concrete grade during the site visit.

What is the price of channel system glass railing in India?
Channel system glass railing costs Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,200 per sq ft for floor-mounted SS304 with 12mm glass. Fascia-mounted is Rs 2,800 to 3,500. Heavy-duty structural glass channel (SGC) for airports and hotels is Rs 3,200 to 4,500 per sq ft. SS316 adds 15 to 20 percent. Call Sun Railings for a free site visit and fixed-price written quote.

Can channel system glass railing be used for swimming pool surrounds?
Yes — channel system glass railing is ideal for pool surrounds because the sealed U-channel prevents water ingress at the base. SS316 marine grade hardware is mandatory for pool applications due to chlorine exposure. Sun Railings has installed channel system pool railing at multiple villa complexes in Hyderabad using SS316 with structural silicone rated for pool chemical exposure.
