Frameless Glass Railings in Hyderabad
Channel-Based Laminated Safety Glass Systems
Sun Railings fabricates and installs frameless glass railing systems for hotel lobbies, IT campus atriums, commercial office buildings and high-rise balconies across Hyderabad. No visible posts, no intermediate frames — glass panels supported entirely by base-mounted stainless steel channels anchored into the structure.
What Makes a Frameless Glass Railing Different
Understanding channel-based systems and why they are specified for premium projects
A frameless glass railing eliminates the vertical posts that support glass panels in conventional semi-frameless systems. Instead, a continuous stainless steel U-channel or shoe is anchor-bolted directly into the structural slab or fascia. The glass panel sits inside this channel, which grips it firmly along its base and transfers all lateral and vertical loads directly into the building structure.
The visual result is a clean, uninterrupted run of glass with no metal interruptions between panels. This is architecturally significant for hotel atriums where sightlines matter, for IT campus voids where the open floor plate needs to remain visually connected across levels, and for high-rise residential balconies where the view is part of the product.
Because frameless systems carry all their structural load through the base channel and the glass panel itself, the glass specification is critical. Sun Railings specifies 12mm laminated safety glass as the standard for all frameless installations. For high-rise buildings, exposed locations with significant wind loads and any installation where people may be below the railing, we specify 15mm laminated. Toughened-only glass is not appropriate for frameless applications — laminated glass is non-negotiable because it holds together on breakage rather than falling.
A continuous stainless steel handrail at the top of the glass panel is required for all commercial and public installations. The handrail transfers no structural load — it is a safety element and a grip surface. We fabricate handrails in 42.4mm or 50mm round SS316 tube for outdoor and coastal installations, and 38mm or 42.4mm SS304 round tube for interior locations.
Why Frameless Glass Railings Are Specified for Premium Projects
Six reasons architects and interior designers choose frameless systems
No Visible Posts
The defining characteristic of a frameless system is the absence of intermediate vertical posts. Glass panels run edge to edge with hairline joints between them — the only visible metal is the base channel and the top handrail.
Laminated Safety Glass
12mm and 15mm laminated safety glass is mandatory for frameless systems. The PVB interlayer between the two glass panes holds the panel together on impact — preventing the dangerous glass fall that toughened-only glass cannot prevent in a frameless installation.
Engineered Anchor System
Base channels are anchor-bolted at 400–600mm centres using M12 or M16 post-installed anchors with minimum 100mm embedment in structural concrete. Anchor positions are calculated for each project and can be pull-tested on request.
Full Coastal Specification
All channels, handrail brackets and fixings are in SS316 grade stainless steel. SS316 resists the chloride corrosion that degrades lower-grade fittings in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana environments over time.
Premium Project Applications
Frameless glass railings are the specified choice for five-star hotels, premium commercial offices, luxury residential towers and institutional buildings where the architectural quality of the space justifies the additional cost over semi-frameless systems.
Custom Glass Options
Low-iron ultra-clear glass eliminates the green tint of standard clear glass — preferred for luxury applications. Tinted, frosted and acid-etched glass options available. Custom silk-screen patterns for corporate branding or privacy applications.

Channel Types — Floor Mount vs Fascia Mount
Floor-mounted channels sit on top of the structural slab and are the most common installation method. Fascia-mounted channels are anchored into the vertical face of the slab edge — used where the channel needs to be flush with the finished floor level. Both types are available in the same glass and SS316 specifications. Fascia mounting requires structural confirmation that the slab edge can handle the cantilever loads.
Glass Panel Joints
Adjacent glass panels are separated by 6–8mm joints filled with structural silicone sealant. The silicone is clear for maximum visual continuity or colour-matched to the channel for a more finished appearance. Panel edges are polished to remove any stress-concentration points that could initiate cracking.
